The distinctive grey shingled “Nantucket Style” house at 910 Lake Road was designed by Arnold and Stern Architects for Solomon Wile who built the house, circa 1921, for his daughter, Lulu Jean Wile. The Wile family was prominent in the Garment Industry.
In 1929 Lulu married Marchese Francisco Barbi, an opera composer. The wedding took place in Rome, Italy. In 1931, the father, Solomon Wile was struck by a trolley near his law office at the Rochester four-corners and was killed. Later that year, Lulu conveyed the property to William Barton Hale and the house remained in the Hale family.
Elegant features of the house include arched porticoes and porches facing the lake.
