The Dew Drop Inn
This cross gable vernacular house was built in 1840 as a New England style house with connecting barn, wainwright (cart or carriage maker) shop, and privy. As in many early houses, the foundation posts are bark-covered tree trunks. In 1901, a cross gable style addition created space for overflow guests from the “Wright on the Lake” summer resort and the inn’s name became “The Dew Drop Inn.” The grounds still have heirloom plants and a brick walkway made of the old brick from a former chimney. The “Dew Drop Inn” sign is still in residence.
