The Maier Homestead
This simple farmhouse was built in 1849. In 1917, Ernest and Cecelia Maier purchased the house and farm of 43 acres. They had 8 children. The family raised turkeys and chickens. They had an orchard with apples, peaches, and cherries, and grew berries and vegetables. The home was updated after World War II when indoor plumbing was added and the kitchen was modernized. It remains in this mid-century form and an outhouse still stands on the property. The farm is owned and worked by the third and fourth generations of the Maier family.
