This home located in the village of Webster is believed to have been built in 1856, the same year that attorney A. G. Melvin purchased the property from Timothy Corning.

A wonderful example of the well-known front gable, side wing architectural style that was popular in the mid to late 19th century, this is now one of the few remaining examples of this style home along Main Street in the village.  The building retains its wood clapboard siding and 6 over 6 double-hung windows with louvered wooden shutters.   The original carriage house still stands in the back with its vertical wood board siding, original windows, and gabled cupola with louvered openings.
